• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• Track your screws, they are different types and lengths: two 7.7mm P2 pentalobe screws beside the USB-C port, one 0.9mm Y000 on each of the two connector covers, and one 1.3mm Phillips on the ambient light sensor bracket. Use a screw mat to keep them in place
• Remove the two pentalobe screws beside the USB-C port, warm the bottom edge and lift the screen from the front with a suction cup. Slide picks under the plastic bezel, no more than 3mm deep on any edge, and twist the pick to release the clips. The screen opens like a book from the right side, hinged on the left, where the two display cables run near the Action button
• The battery can't be disconnected for this repair. Keep the phone powered off, keep metal tools away from the battery and board, and never bend, crush or puncture the battery.
• Disconnect the display cable first, then the front sensor cable, each under a small cover. On reassembly, line each connector up and press one side, then the other, until it clicks
• Carefully transfer the ambient light sensor from your old screen - remove its bracket, warm the area and use a spudger to gently lift the sensor and its flex cable, then re-stick it to the new screen with Tesa tape. Face ID and the earpiece stay in the phone, so don't touch the TrueDepth camera at the top of the frame. Watch the video above before attempting removal
• Test touch, display, earpiece, proximity and Face ID before sealing the phone, and don't peel off the protective film or any stickers until it's all working
• Opening your iPhone 16 breaks its factory water-resistance seal. Clean off the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and fit the new screen gasket adhesive included in the box when you reassemble it.
• Once the repair is finished, turn True Tone on in Settings > Display & Brightness (iOS 18 or later)
