• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• The battery can't be disconnected for this repair. Keep the phone powered off, keep metal tools away from the battery and board, and never bend, crush or puncture the battery.
• Track your screws on a screw mat or tape them to a drawing of your phone. This repair uses two 7.7mm pentalobe screws, two 0.9mm Y000 tri-point screws and one 1.3mm Phillips screw. Keep them apart so each goes back in the right place
• Remove the two 7.7mm pentalobe screws either side of the USB-C port, then heat the bottom edge to soften the adhesive
• The screen opens from the right-hand side like a book - the two display cables are on the left, near the Action button. Insert picks under the plastic bezel no deeper than 3mm on any edge, and twist the pick to release the clips
• Disconnect the screen connector first, then the front sensor connector - each sits under a small cover held by one 0.9mm Y000 tri-point screw. When reconnecting, line each connector up and press one side, then the other, until it clicks - don't force it
• Transfer the ambient light sensor from your old screen - the earpiece and Face ID camera stay in the phone; don't touch them. Remove its bracket (one 1.3mm Phillips screw), warm the area, lift it with a spudger or opening card and re-stick with Tesa tape. If damaged, auto-brightness stops working
• Test touch, display, auto-brightness and Face ID before sealing the phone, and don't peel off the protective film or any stickers until it's all working
• Clean off all the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and fit the new screen adhesive supplied in the box to keep dust and moisture out. Press or clamp the screen for at least 30 minutes
• This screen supports IC transfer - a micro-soldering specialist can move the display IC from your old screen onto this one.
• Once the repair is finished, turn True Tone on in Settings > Display & Brightness and check auto-brightness is working (iOS 18 or later)
