Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Power the tablet off and take out the SIM / microSD card tray before you open it.
- The back cover is held on by clips. Work a pick or card around the edge to release them one at a time, no more than 3 to 5mm in, and take care near the power and volume buttons, whose cables run close to the edge.
- Always track your screws (Phillips #000) so they go back in the right place. Draw a picture of your tablet and tape the screws to it, or use a screw mat
- Always unplug the battery before you remove any other parts. Keep metal tools away from the battery, and never bend, crush or puncture it.
- Unplug the display flex from the board with the spudger. When you connect the new one, press the connector down evenly at both ends, never in the middle, so the pins don't bend.
- The screen is glued to the front of the frame with strong adhesive. Warm the edges gently with the iOpener in short bursts, as too much heat can damage the battery, then lift a corner with the suction cup and work picks and cards around the edge, no more than 2 to 3mm in, and feed the flex out through the frame as the screen lifts.
- Test the display and touch before you seal the screen in, and leave the protective film and stickers on until the new screen is working properly.
- Clean the old adhesive off the frame with isopropyl alcohol, fit a strip of 2mm Tesa tape all the way round the frame (no adhesive comes in the box), then press the screen down evenly so it sits flat.
- Press the back cover down all the way round until every clip clicks in, so it sits flat.
