If it feels loose, keeps showing a "Moisture detected" warning when the port is dry, is charging on and off, is having trouble connecting to a computer, callers can't hear you or it is not charging at all, a new charging port board (also called the charging board or sub board) is usually the repair you need.

Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat. The loudspeaker and main board bracket screws are 3.9mm long and the three charging port board screws are 3.7mm.
- The glass back cover is glued on. Warm one edge at a time with the iOpener in short bursts (the screen and the battery are both damaged by heat), lift the cover with the suction cup and slide an opening pick around the edge. Go gently at the curved corners and the button ridge, where the glass cracks most easily.
- Only push an opening pick 4 to 5mm past the edge. Any deeper and you can cut the antenna cable, the power button cable or the rear cameras.
- The NFC and wireless charging coil has to come out to reach the charging port board. Do not tear its cable, and press its connector back down until it clicks.
- Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal
- The loudspeaker and lower midframe sit over the charging port board. Remove their screws and pry them up from the notch at the top left corner.
- The board connects to the main board with two interconnect flex cables. Disconnect both at each end with a spudger. When refitting, press one side of each connector down until it clicks, then the other side, never the middle, or the phone may not charge after the repair.
- To remove the board, pry up its left edge with a spudger and lift it out with tweezers.
- Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Test the phone before you close it up, then fit new adhesive or 2mm Tesa tape, or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
