• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• Track your screws, they are different types and lengths: two 7.7mm P2 pentalobe screws beside the USB-C port, one 0.9mm Y000 on each of the two connector covers, and one 1.3mm Phillips on the ambient light sensor bracket. Use a screw mat to keep them in place
• Remove the two pentalobe screws beside the USB-C port, warm the bottom edge (not too hot, the battery is heat-sensitive) and lift the screen with a suction cup. Slide picks under the plastic bezel on the back of the screen, not into the seam between the bezel and the panel, and no more than 3mm deep on any edge. The screen opens like a book from the right side, hinged on the left where the two display cables run
• The battery can't be disconnected from the front on the iPhone 16 Plus, so keep the phone powered off and use only plastic tools near the board. Disconnect the display cable first, then the front sensor cable, each under a small cover, and hook both covers back into their slots on reassembly
• Carefully transfer the ambient light sensor from your old screen - remove its bracket, warm the area and use a spudger to gently lift the sensor and its flex cable, then re-stick it to the new screen with Tesa tape. Face ID and the earpiece stay in the phone, so don't touch the TrueDepth camera at the top of the frame. Watch the video above before attempting removal
• Test touch, display, earpiece, proximity and Face ID before sealing the phone, and don't peel off the protective film or any stickers until it's all working
• Opening your iPhone 16 Plus breaks its factory water-resistance seal. Clean off the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and fit the new screen gasket adhesive included in the box when you reassemble it.
• This screen supports IC transfer - a micro-soldering specialist can move the display IC from your old screen onto this one
• Once the repair is finished, turn True Tone on in Settings > Display & Brightness (iOS 18 or later)
