• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it. The battery can't be disconnected from the front on the iPhone 16 Plus, so use only plastic tools near the connectors and don't touch exposed contacts
• Track your screws on a screw mat or tape them to a drawing of your phone. This repair uses two 7.7mm pentalobe screws, two 0.9mm Y000 tri-point screws and one 1.3mm Phillips screw. Keep them apart so each goes back in the right place
• Remove the two 7.7mm pentalobe screws either side of the USB-C port, then heat the bottom edge to soften the adhesive. Don't overheat it - the battery is heat-sensitive
• The screen opens from the right-hand side like a book - the two display cables are on the left. Slide the pick under the plastic bezel on the back of the screen, not into the seam between the bezel and the panel, and no deeper than 3mm on any edge
• Remove the two connector covers (one 0.9mm Y000 tri-point screw each), then disconnect the screen connector first and the front sensor connector second. When reconnecting, press each one until it clicks and hook the covers back into their slots at an angle
• Transfer the ambient light sensor from your old screen - the earpiece and Face ID camera stay in the phone; don't touch them. Remove its bracket (one 1.3mm Phillips screw), warm the area, lift it with a spudger or opening card and re-stick it in the new screen's recess with Tesa tape
• For a clean pairing, run Repair Assistant (Settings > General > About > Parts and Service History) with the front sensor flex unplugged. Once the screen is paired, power down and plug the sensors in
• Test touch, display and Face ID before sealing the phone, and don't peel off the protective film or any stickers until it's all working
• Clean off all the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and fit the new screen adhesive supplied in the box to keep dust and moisture out. Press or clamp the screen for at least 30 minutes
• Once the repair is finished, turn True Tone on in Settings > Display & Brightness (iOS 18 or later). Don't write True Tone data to this screen with a programmer, as it may cause issues
