Product Details

This MacBook Pro 13" (2016-2022) replacement battery is what you need to bring your dead laptop back to life!

Battery degradation is an inevitable part of your MacBook Pro's lifespan. If your laptop won't turn on, turns off suddenly, has a "service battery" warning, has had water damage or simply won't hold a charge, this MacBook Pro battery replacement may be what you need to fix it.

It suits the 13-inch MacBook Pro with two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports: the A1708 from Late 2016 and 2017, the A2159 from 2019, the A2289 from 2020 and the A2338 with the Apple M1 (2020) or M2 (2022) chip. It replaces battery models A1713 and A2171.

Don't be let down by poor quality cheap batteries. Our high quality aftermarket battery is built with a ternary battery cell, safety chipsets and high grade cabling to give you years of trouble free charging.

The battery comes as one pack of three cell blocks with its control board and flex already attached. Fitting it is a moderate to difficult job, as the cells are glued in and the trackpad has to come out first, so watch the video and follow the step by step guide in Installation Help before you start.

Part Includes:

  • Ternary Battery Cell
  • Safety chipsets and PCB board
  • High Grade cabling and connectors
  • 12 Month Warranty

Please Note

Does NOT fit the four-port models (A1706, A1989, A2251). Check the A-number on the bottom case for your model.

Please Note

Fits A1708 (2016-2017), A2159 (2019), A2289 (2020) and A2338 (M1 2020, M2 2022), with or without Touch Bar.

Please Note

High quality aftermarket battery, not an official Apple part.

Please Note

Isopropyl alcohol is not included in the box. You'll need some to loosen the old battery adhesive.

Installation Help

installation guide

Check out the video above or the step by step guide below for assistance with this repair

iFixit MacBook Pro 13" Battery Replacement Guide

Remember

After completing your repair, calibrate your newly installed battery by charging it to 100% and then charging for a further two hours. Use your MacBook until it shuts off due to low battery, and finally, charge it uninterrupted to 100% again

helpful tips

Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email

  • Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair. A charged lithium-ion battery can catch fire or explode if punctured or damaged
  • These MacBook Pros can power on by themselves when the bottom case comes off. Intel models: run sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00 in Terminal (sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03 afterwards). M1/M2 models on macOS Sequoia or later: sudo nvram BootPreference=%00 (sudo nvram -d BootPreference afterwards). Power down, then disconnect the battery before anything else
  • The P5 pentalobe and T5 Torx screwdrivers you need are included in the box with this battery.
  • Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your device and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
  • The bottom case is held by six P5 pentalobe screws and four hidden clips. Lift the front edge with a suction cup and release the clips with opening picks
  • The trackpad has to come out to free the battery, and its cable is stuck to the battery. Warm the cable and peel it off slowly rather than pulling it
  • The cells are glued down. Keep solvent off the display, keyboard and speakers with foil between keyboard and screen and a towel under the edge. Add adhesive remover or isopropyl alcohol under each cell, wait a few minutes, lift with plastic cards. Never pry cells with metal or bend them
  • Remove all the old adhesive so the new battery sits flat and the bottom case closes properly
  • The control board and flex come already fitted to the battery, so there is no board to transfer from your old battery.
  • If your newly installed battery is draining fast or shutting off randomly, first try the battery calibration steps found here. If that doesn't resolve it, on Intel models (A1708, A2159, A2289) try an SMC reset; M1 and M2 models have no SMC reset - shut down, wait 30 seconds and restart
Caution

If the new battery or the battery in your device is swollen or damaged during repair, take the proper precautions

Note

You cannot dispose of old batteries in your general waste. Find recycling e-waste centres online or take to your local refuse station.
