• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Power the tablet off and take out the microSD card before you open it.
• The plastic back cover comes off first, with no heat needed: slide the spudger into the seam between the front and back and work it all the way round.
• Always track your screws (Phillips #00) so they go back in the right place. Draw a picture of your tablet and tape the screws to it, or use a screw mat
• Always unplug the battery before you remove any other parts. Keep metal tools away from the battery, and never bend, crush or puncture it.
• The battery plug can snap off its socket if you lever it: hold the board socket down with the tweezers while you lift the plug with the spudger.
• The battery stays in for this repair: it is held by screws, not glue, so just unplug it and leave it in place.
• Unplug the home button cable, then warm the edges of the glass with the iOpener in short bursts, as too much heat can damage the LCD, and work a pick between the glass and the frame all the way round. Keep the pick shallow so you don't scratch or crack the LCD underneath, which you reuse.
• Clean the old adhesive off the frame with isopropyl alcohol, and keep dust and fingerprints off the LCD before the new glass goes on.
• Connect the new glass and test touch across the whole screen before you seal it in, and leave the protective film and stickers on until the new glass is working properly.
• Fit a strip of 2mm Tesa tape around the frame (no adhesive comes in the box), then press the glass down evenly so it sits flat.
• Plug the home button and battery cables back in, then press the back cover on all the way round.
