Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it
- Take out the SIM tray before you open the phone.
- Always track your screws (Phillips #00) so they go back in the right place. Draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to it, or use a screw mat
- The plastic back cover is glued on. Warm the edges in short bursts and slice the adhesive with a pick no more than 3 to 5mm in, or you can cut the antenna, side key or camera cables.
- Always unplug the battery before you remove any other parts. Keep metal tools away from the battery, and never bend, crush or puncture it.
- Disconnect the screen flex, then heat the front of the phone and work picks under the old screen to cut its adhesive. It is glued to the frame, so take your time and keep picks away from the flex cable.
- Clean all the old adhesive off the frame with isopropyl alcohol so the new screen sits flat, then fit new adhesive (the 2mm Tesa tape works well).
- Handle the new OLED panel by its edges and never bend it or press on the flex cable. A bare panel cracks easily until it is glued in.
- Test the display, touch, fingerprint (you may need to set it up again), cameras and calls before you close the phone up.
- Don't peel off the protective film or any stickers until you've tested the new screen and it's working properly.
- Fit new adhesive to the back cover when you close it up so it sits flat and stays secure.
