This MacBook Air M1 13" (2020) replacement battery is what you need to bring your dead laptop back to life!
Battery degradation is an inevitable part of your MacBook Air's lifespan. If your laptop won't turn on, turns off suddenly, shows "Service Recommended" in Battery settings, has had water damage or simply won't hold a charge, this replacement battery may be what you need to fix it.
It suits the MacBook Air 13" with the Apple M1 chip, model A2337 (MacBookAir10,1), in both the 7-core and 8-core GPU versions. It replaces battery model A2389.
Don't be let down by poor quality cheap batteries. Our high quality aftermarket battery is built with a Pure Cobalt battery cell, safety chipsets and high grade cabling to give you years of trouble free charging.
The cells come fitted to the metal battery tray with the control board and flex attached. New adhesive strips come in the box. The battery is held by two T3 screws and six pull-tab adhesive strips, and the logic board stays in. Watch the video and follow the step by step guide in Installation Help before you start.

- Pure Cobalt Battery Cell

Installation Help
Check out the video above or the step by step guide below for assistance with this repair
iFixit MacBook Air 13" M1 (Late 2020) Battery Replacement Guide
Remember
After completing your repair, calibrate your newly installed battery by charging it to 100% and then charging for a further two hours. Use your MacBook until it shuts off due to low battery, and finally, charge it uninterrupted to 100% again
Here are some tools you may need to help you complete the repair.
- Mechanic AK-15 King ESD Anti-Static Stainless Steel Red Curved Tweezers
- Heavy Duty Strong Large Blue Suction Cup Opening Tool with lock
- iGadget Plastic Triangle Opening Picks (set of 5)
- 5x iGadget Plastic Flexible Opening Cards
- iGadget Plastic Alcohol 200mL Bottle with Pump Top
- 2mm Tesa Tape 61395 Roll Double Sided Adhesive Tape (100m)
- iGadget Universal Magnetic Work Project Mat with Marker (30cm x 25cm)
Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair. A charged lithium-ion battery can catch fire or explode if punctured or damaged
- M1 MacBook Airs can power on by themselves when the lid opens or a charger is connected. On macOS Sequoia or later, run sudo nvram BootPreference=%00 in Terminal (undo afterwards with sudo nvram -d BootPreference). Power down, and on older macOS keep the lid closed until the battery is disconnected
- The P5 pentalobe and T3 Torx screwdrivers you need are included in the box with this battery.
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your laptop and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- The bottom case is held by ten P5 pentalobe screws of three lengths and two hidden clips. Lift each front corner with a suction cup to pop the clips, and press the middle down until it clicks on reassembly
- Before any component removal, unplug the battery by flipping up the metal locking bar on its connector with a spudger, then lifting the cable off. On reconnecting, make sure the bar sits back over the cable
- Both speakers have to come out (one T3 screw each plus stretch-release strips), and the left speaker cable is lightly stuck to the logic board. Re-stick them with new adhesive so they don't rattle
- Remove the trackpad cable cover (two T3 screws) and peel the trackpad cable off the battery. The trackpad itself stays in
- Remove the two T3 battery tray screws, then pull the six black adhesive tabs (three each side) slowly and low. If a strip snaps, add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol, wait a minute and lift with a plastic card
- Do not separate the cells from the metal tray. Never pry against a cell with metal tools, and never bend, squeeze or puncture the cells when removing the old battery or fitting the new one
- The new adhesive strips come in the box and are not pre-attached. Fit them to the new battery before you put it in
- Make sure the trackpad cable is not trapped under the new battery before refitting the tray screws. The MacBook may not power on until a charger is connected
- If your newly installed battery is draining fast or shutting off randomly, first try the battery calibration steps found here. Apple silicon Macs have no SMC reset - shut down, wait 30 seconds and restart
Caution
If the new battery or the battery in your device is swollen or damaged during repair, take the proper precautions
Note
You cannot dispose of old batteries in your general waste. Find recycling e-waste centres online or take to your local refuse station.
