• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it. The battery can't be disconnected on the iPhone 16 Pro during this repair, so use only plastic tools near the connectors and don't touch exposed contacts
• Track your screws on a screw mat or tape them to a drawing of your phone. This repair uses two 7.4mm pentalobe screws, two 1.3mm Y000 tri-point screws and one 1mm Phillips screw. Keep them apart so each goes back in the right place
• Remove the two 7.4mm pentalobe screws either side of the USB-C port, then heat the bottom edge to soften the adhesive
• The screen opens from the right-hand side like a book - two delicate display cables run along the left edge, one just above the Action button. Insert picks no deeper than 3mm on any edge, as there are spring contacts all the way round
• Disconnect the display connector first, then the front sensor connector - each sits under a small cover held by one 1.3mm Y000 tri-point screw. When reconnecting, press one side and then the other until it clicks - never press the middle
• The ambient light sensor is not included, so transfer it from your old screen - the earpiece and Face ID camera stay in the phone. Remove its bracket (one 1mm Phillips screw), warm the area, lift the sensor with a spudger or opening card and re-stick it with Tesa tape. The cable is very delicate - if it's damaged, the sensor stops working
• For a clean pairing, run Repair Assistant (Settings > General > About > Parts and Service History) with the front sensor flex unplugged. Once the screen is paired, power down and plug the sensors in
• Test touch, display, proximity (screen turns off during a call) and Face ID before sealing the phone, and don't peel off the protective film or any stickers until it's all working
• Clean off all the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol (careful of the thin grounding clips round the frame) and fit the new screen adhesive supplied in the box to keep dust and moisture out. Press or clamp the screen for at least 30 minutes
• Once the repair is finished, turn True Tone on in Settings > Display & Brightness (iOS 18 or later). Don't write True Tone data to this screen with a programmer, as it may cause issues
