• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• Track your screws, they are different lengths: two P2 pentalobe screws at the bottom, 1.1mm Y000 screws on the battery and display connector covers, and Phillips and standoff screws of several lengths around the loudspeaker and charging port. A long screw in the wrong hole can damage the logic board. Use a screw mat to keep them in place
• Remove the two pentalobe screws beside the Lightning port, warm the bottom edge and lift the screen from the front with a suction cup. Slide picks under the screen no more than 3mm deep, and take extra care on the right edge, where the display cables run. The screen opens like a book from the left side
• Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal. Remove the three 1.1mm Y000 screws on the battery connector cover and lift the connector with a plastic spudger. The battery can stay in the phone for this repair
• To reach the charging port, remove the lower bracket, the Taptic Engine and the loudspeaker, then the SIM tray and SIM card reader. Note which way the small grounding clip on the loudspeaker sits so it goes back the same way
• The charging port flex is held by screws, a small holder with standoff screws and some glue. Warm the flex to soften the glue, and gently lever the microphone off the frame with a spudger rather than pulling on the flex
• The connector to the logic board can be tricky to align correctly so it fits into place, we recommend taking a pencil and tracing the original charging port so you know exactly where it gets positioned and lining the new charger port within the pencil lines
• Compare the new part with the old one and move across any adhesive or rubber seal the new part does not have. Seat the port flush with the bottom of the frame before fitting the screws
• Test charging, a computer connection, the microphone (record a voice memo), the loudspeaker and vibration before closing the phone
• Opening your iPhone 11 breaks its factory water-resistance seal. Clean off the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and fit new screen adhesive when you reassemble it
