• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
• The glass back cover is glued on. Warm one edge at a time with the iOpener, lift the cover with the suction cup and slide an opening pick around the edge.
• Do not overheat the phone. The curved edge screen and the battery are both damaged by heat, so work in short bursts.
• Only push an opening pick 4 to 5mm past the edge. Any deeper and you can cut the antenna cable, the power button cable or the rear cameras.
• The NFC and wireless charging plate has to come out to reach the charging port board. Do not tear its cable, and press its connectors back down until they click.
• Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal
• Unclip the aerial (coaxial antenna) cable with tweezers where it is in the way, and reconnect it when refitting, or the phone may lose signal after the repair.
• The board connects to the main board with a flex cable. Disconnect it with a spudger, and press the connector back down until it clicks when refitting.
• Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Test the phone before you close it up, then fit new adhesive or 2mm Tesa tape, or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
