Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- The glass back cover is glued on. Warm one edge at a time with the iOpener, lift the cover with the suction cup and slide an opening pick around the edge.
- Do not overheat the phone. The screen and the battery are both damaged by heat, so work in short bursts.
- Only push an opening pick 4 to 5mm past the edge. Any deeper and you can cut the antenna cable, the power button cable or the rear cameras.
- Eleven #00 screws hold the plastic covers, the NFC and wireless charging plate and the loudspeaker. Remove them all and lift these parts out to reach the main board.
- Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal
- Unclip the white and red aerial (coaxial antenna) cables with tweezers and eject the SIM tray before you lift the main board. Reconnect both cables when refitting, or the phone may lose signal after the repair.
- The charging port board plugs into the underside of the main board. Lift the main board towards the battery, disconnect the board with a spudger, and press the connector back down until it clicks when refitting.
- The Back and Recent apps key cables are stuck to the frame beside the screen. Peel them up slowly with a pick so you do not tear them or crack the screen.
- Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Test the phone before you close it up, then fit new adhesive or 2mm Tesa tape, or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
