Samsung Galaxy S22 USB-C Port and Charging Board Replacement Guide

• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• Take the SIM card tray out before you start. The SIM card reader is on the charging port board, so the board can't come out with the tray still in and you can bend the reader pins.
• Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat. The wireless charging plate, loudspeaker and charging port board screws are all 3.5mm Phillips.
• The glass back cover is glued on, most firmly at the bottom right and top left corners. Warm one edge at a time with the iOpener in short bursts (the screen and the battery are both damaged by heat), lift the cover with the suction cup and slide an opening pick around the edge.
• Only push an opening pick 5mm past the edge along the sides and 4mm along the top. Any deeper and you can cut the antenna cable, the power button cable or damage the rear cameras and flash.
• The NFC and wireless charging plate has to come out to reach the charging port board. Disconnect its cable first, do not tear it, and press its connector back down until it clicks. The plate and the loudspeaker lift out together once their screws are out.
• Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal
• The board connects to the main board with two interconnect flex cables. Disconnect both at each end with a spudger, refit them with the ends marked "main" towards the top, and press all four connectors back down until they click, or the phone may not charge or read the SIM after the repair.
• To remove the board, lift its top right corner first and then slide the USB-C port out of its recess. Fit the new board USB-C port first, at a slight downward angle.
• Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Test the phone before you close it up, then fit new adhesive or 2mm Tesa tape, or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
