This MacBook Pro 14" M3 Pro to M5 Max (2023-2026) replacement battery is what you need to bring your dead laptop back to life!
Battery degradation is an inevitable part of your MacBook Pro's lifespan. If your laptop won't turn on, turns off suddenly, shows "Service Recommended" in Battery settings, has had water damage or simply won't hold a charge, this replacement battery may be what you need to fix it.
It suits the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro or M3 Max chip (A2992, November 2023: Mac15,6, Mac15,8 and Mac15,10), the M4 (A3112, Mac16,1), M4 Pro (A3401, Mac16,8), M4 Max (A3185, Mac16,6), M5 (A3434, Mac17,2), M5 Pro (A3426, Mac17,9) and M5 Max (A3427, Mac17,7). It replaces battery model A2977. The base M3 14" (A2918) takes a different battery.
Don't be let down by poor quality cheap batteries. Our high quality aftermarket battery is built with quality cells, safety chipsets and high grade cabling to give you years of trouble free charging.
The battery is held by stretch-release adhesive strips, and new strips come in the box. The trackpad has to come out first. Watch the video and follow the step by step guide in Installation Help before you start.

- Quality battery cells
- Safety chipsets and PCB board

Installation Help
Check out the video above or the step by step guide below for assistance with this repair
iFixit MacBook Pro 14" Late 2023 (M3 Pro and M3 Max) Battery Replacement Guide
Remember
After completing your repair, calibrate your newly installed battery by charging it to 100% and then charging for a further two hours. Use your MacBook until it shuts off due to low battery, and finally, charge it uninterrupted to 100% again
Here are some tools you may need to help you complete the repair.
- iGadget Plastic Triangle Opening Picks (set of 5)
- 5x iGadget Plastic Flexible Opening Cards
- iGadget Plastic Alcohol 200mL Bottle with Pump Top
- iGadget Universal Magnetic Work Project Mat with Marker (30cm x 25cm)
Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair. A charged lithium-ion battery can catch fire or explode if punctured or damaged
- These MacBook Pros can power on by themselves when the lid opens or a charger is connected. On macOS Sequoia or later, run sudo nvram BootPreference=%00 in Terminal (undo afterwards with sudo nvram -d BootPreference). Power down, and on older macOS keep the lid closed until the battery is disconnected
- The P5 pentalobe, T3 and T5 Torx screwdrivers you need are included in the box. The 3IP and 5IP Torx Plus screws turn with the T3 and T5 using firm downward pressure
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your laptop and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- The bottom case is held by eight P5 pentalobe screws (four 9.3 mm and four 5 mm) plus hidden clips. Lift the front edge with a suction cup, free the side clips with a pick, then pull the case toward the front to release the sliding clips at the back
- Unplug the battery first: peel the tape, open the data cable ZIF and slide it out. Remove the trackpad cable bracket (two 2.1 mm 3IP screws) and 3.8 mm 5IP connector screw; lift the connector at most 45 degrees over a card. Press connectors at each end, never the middle
- The trackpad has to come out (ten 5.7 mm 5IP screws). Keep the small metal washers on the screw posts, they are easy to lose
- Remove the 4 mm T5 battery board screw, then pull the 14 stretch-release strips slowly and low. If one snaps, add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol, wait a minute or two and lift with a plastic card. Keep the alcohol away from the speakers
- Never pry against a cell with metal tools, and never bend, squeeze or puncture the cells when removing the old battery or fitting the new one
- The new adhesive strips come in the box. Fit them, test-fit the battery, then refit the trackpad screws loosely and line it up before tightening
- If your newly installed battery is draining fast or shutting off randomly, first try the battery calibration steps found here. Apple silicon Macs have no SMC reset - shut down, wait 30 seconds and restart
Caution
If the new battery or the battery in your device is swollen or damaged during repair, take the proper precautions
Note
You cannot dispose of old batteries in your general waste. Find recycling e-waste centres online or take to your local refuse station.
