This MacBook Air 13" M2 and M3 (2022-2024) replacement battery is what you need to bring your dead MacBook Air back to life!
Battery degradation is an inevitable part of your MacBook Air's lifespan. If your laptop won't turn on, turns off suddenly, shows "Service Recommended" in Battery settings, has had water damage or simply won't hold a charge, this replacement battery may be what you need to fix it.
It suits the flat-design 13-inch MacBook Air with the Apple M2 chip (A2681, 2022) and the M3 chip (A3113, 2024). It replaces battery model A2669.
Don't be let down by poor quality cheap batteries. Our high quality aftermarket battery is built with a ternary battery cell, safety chipsets and high grade cabling to give you years of trouble free charging.
The battery sits on a tray held by Torx screws and stretch-release adhesive strips, and new strips come in the box. Watch the video and follow the step by step guide in Installation Help before you start.
Part Includes:
- Ternary Battery Cell
- Safety chipsets and PCB board

Installation Help
Check out the video above or the step by step guide below for assistance with this repair
iFixit MacBook Air 13" 2022 (M2) Battery Replacement Guide
Remember
After completing your repair, calibrate your newly installed battery by charging it to 100% and then charging for a further two hours. Use your MacBook until it shuts off due to low battery, and finally, charge it uninterrupted to 100% again
Here are some tools you may need to help you complete the repair.
- T4 Metal Torx Screwdriver Tool
- Mechanic AK-15 King ESD Anti-Static Stainless Steel Red Curved Tweezers
- 5x iGadget Plastic Flexible Opening Cards
- iGadget Plastic Alcohol 200mL Bottle with Pump Top
- iGadget Universal Magnetic Work Project Mat with Marker (30cm x 25cm)
Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair. A charged lithium-ion battery can catch fire or explode if punctured or damaged
- These MacBook Airs can power on by themselves when the lid opens or a charger is connected. On macOS Sequoia or later, run sudo nvram BootPreference=%00 in Terminal (undo afterwards with sudo nvram -d BootPreference). Power down, and on older macOS keep the lid closed until the battery is disconnected
- The P5 pentalobe, T3 and T5 Torx screwdrivers are included in the box. The tray screws are 4IP and 3IP Torx Plus, which a T4 and T3 turn with firm downward pressure
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your laptop and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- The bottom case is held by four P5 pentalobe screws. Lift the front edge with a suction cup, release the four snap clips with a pick, then pull the case straight back to free the tabs at the rear. The case edges are sharp
- Before any component removal, remove the battery connector cover (two 1.5 mm screws) and lift the press connector with a pick. Then remove the trackpad cable cover and peel the trackpad cable off the battery without creasing it
- iFixit's M2 guide takes the logic board out to reach the battery cable. Apple's M3 procedure slides the cable out from under the board instead
- Remove the four battery tray screws (two 4IP at the upper edges and two 3IP in the centre), then pull each stretch-release strip slowly at a shallow angle. If one snaps, add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol at the edge, wait a minute and slide a plastic card under the metal tray
- Handle the battery by its tray and don't bend it. Never pry against a cell with metal tools, and never bend, squeeze or puncture the cells when removing the old battery or fitting the new one
- The new adhesive strips come in the box and are not pre-attached. Fit them to the new battery before you put it in
- If your newly installed battery is draining fast or shutting off randomly, first try the battery calibration steps found here. Apple silicon Macs have no SMC reset - shut down, wait 30 seconds and restart
Caution
If the new battery or the battery in your device is swollen or damaged during repair, take the proper precautions
Note
You cannot dispose of old batteries in your general waste. Find recycling e-waste centres online or take to your local refuse station.
