Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- The back cover is glued on. Warm each edge with the iOpener in short bursts (the screen, the battery and the plastic back cover are all damaged by heat), lift the cover with the suction cup and slide an opening pick around the edge.
- Only push an opening pick 4 to 5mm past the edge. Any deeper and you can cut the antenna cable, the power button cable or the rear cameras.
- Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal. On the Note 20 the battery connector sits under the metal shield over the main board.
- The wireless charging coil is held by light adhesive and has to be peeled off to reach the charging port. Unplug it first, do not tear its cable, and press its connector back down until it clicks.
- The charging port sits under the loudspeaker and the sub board. Remove the loudspeaker without pressing on the battery, unplug both interconnect cables, then lift out the sub board. Do not pry on the small components underneath it.
- The charging port is held by two small screws and a red rubber seal. Move the seal across to the new port, and press every connector back down until it clicks when refitting, or the phone may not charge after the repair.
- If you unplug an aerial (coaxial antenna) cable to reach the port, note where it goes and press it back on firmly, or the phone may lose signal after the repair.
- Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Test the phone before you close it up, then fit new adhesive or 2mm Tesa tape, or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
