Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it
- Take out the SIM tray before you open the phone.
- Always track your screws (Phillips #00) so they go back in the right place. Draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to it, or use a screw mat
- The back glass is glued on. Warm the edges (not the middle, over the battery) in short bursts, then slice the adhesive with a pick no more than 3 to 5mm in, or you can cut the wireless charging coil, antenna or camera cables.
- Always unplug the battery before you remove any other parts. Keep metal tools away from the battery, and never bend, crush or puncture it.
- Move the motherboard, charging board, cameras, speakers, wireless charging coil and antennas from your old frame into the new one. The battery is not included, so transfer your old one (isopropyl alcohol helps loosen its adhesive) or fit a new one. The iFixit guide uses a part with the battery already fitted.
- Test the display, touch, fingerprint (you may need to set it up again), cameras and calls before you seal the back.
- Don't peel off the protective film or any stickers until you've tested the new screen and it's working properly.
- Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Fit new adhesive when you close it up or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
- After the repair, set Settings > Display > Motion smoothness to Adaptive (or High) to use 120Hz.
