Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it, and take out the SIM card tray first
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- The plastic back cover is glued on. Warm the edges with the iOpener, lift the cover with the suction cup and slide an opening pick around the edge. Do not overheat the phone: the screen and the battery are both damaged by heat, so work in short bursts.
- Only push an opening pick 4 to 5mm past the edge, and go carefully past the side buttons where cables run under the edge.
- Take off the separate camera cover to reach the screws under it, unplug the fingerprint sensor cable, then remove the screws and unclip the plastic midframe, starting at the SIM tray.
- Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal
- The board connects to the main board with a long flex cable. Disconnect it at both ends with a spudger, and press both connectors back down until they click when refitting.
- Unclip the two aerial (coaxial antenna) cables from the board, then remove the single screw holding it. Reconnect both cables until they click when refitting, or the phone may lose signal after the repair.
- Test charging, fast charging, the headphone jack and the microphone before you close the phone.
- Run strips of 2mm Tesa tape where the old adhesive was so the back cover sits flat and stays closed.
