Product Details
Are the USB-C ports on your MacBook Pro loose, only charging at an angle, or not charging at all? The ports sit in pairs on a small USB-C board, so a new USB-C charging port board is usually the repair you need.
This board fits the 13-inch MacBook Pro A1989, A2159, A2251, A2289 and A2338 (M1 2020 and M2 2022), the 15-inch A1990 and the 16-inch A2141, from 2018 to 2022. Got a 2016 or 2017 Touch Bar MacBook Pro? This is the 2016-2017 MacBook Pro USB-C board.
Part Includes:
- 1x USB-C board with two ports, flex cable and connector
- 12 Month Warranty
Please Note
Does NOT fit the 2016-2017 MacBook Pro A1706, A1707 or A1708, or any MacBook Air. Check the A-number on the bottom case for your model.
Please Note
One board carries two USB-C ports. The A1989, A1990, A2141 and A2251 have four ports (a board on each side), so replacing all four takes two boards.
Please Note
The USB-C board sits under the logic board, so the logic board has to come out to fit it.

Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Intel models: Run
sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00in Terminal first so the MacBook doesn't switch on when you open it. Turn it back on afterwards withsudo nvram AutoBoot=%03. On the M1 or M2 A2338, runsudo nvram BootPreference=%00instead (macOS Sequoia or later) - Always power down your device prior to working on it
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Pull the bottom case sideways off its clips after removing the six P5 screws, rather than lifting it straight up. Track your screws on a magnetic work mat or tape them to a drawing of your laptop, as several screws look alike but are different lengths
- Disconnect the battery first: release the battery board data cable, remove the T5 screw on the battery power connector and lift it with a spudger, no higher than it needs to go. Slide an opening pick under it so it can't touch the socket
- Unplug the antenna cables gently with tweezers, as pulling too hard can lift the connector off the board. The logic board is held by T5 and T4 screws, with T3 screws on the cable covers
- Check every cable is unplugged before you lift the logic board, including the display connector near the top centre on the M2 A2338, which is easy to miss. The M2 also has two P2 screws on the spring contacts
- Start the board screws loosely, plug an unpowered USB-C cable into the port to line the board up, then tighten them. A port that sits out of line makes the plug feel stiff or loose
