Is your unibody MacBook Pro or aluminium MacBook not charging, charging on and off, or is the light on the MagSafe plug not coming on? The MagSafe port sits on its own small DC-in board, so a new MagSafe DC-in board is usually the charging port replacement you need.
This board fits the 15-inch MacBook Pro A1286 from Late 2008 and Early 2009, the 17-inch A1297 from 2009 to 2011, and the aluminium MacBook A1278 from Late 2008. Got a Mid 2009 to Mid 2012 13" or 15" MacBook Pro? It uses the 2009-2012 MacBook Pro MagSafe DC-in board.
Part Includes:
- 1x MagSafe DC-in board with cable and connector
- 12 Month Warranty
Please Note
Does NOT fit the 13" MacBook Pro A1278 or the 15" A1286 from Mid 2009 to Mid 2012. Check the year in About This Mac as well as the A-number.
Please Note
Takes the original MagSafe charger (the L-shaped or T-shaped plug), not MagSafe 2.
Please Note
The logic board has to come out to fit it. On the 17" the logic board and DC-in board lift out together.

Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Always power down your device prior to working on it
- On the Late 2008 MacBook and 15", take the battery out through the access door first. On the 17", unplug the battery by pulling its tab towards the front edge (Late 2011: pry the connector straight up)
- Match by year, not just the A-number. An A1278 can be a Late 2008 MacBook (this board) or a 2009-2012 MacBook Pro, which takes a different board
- Most screws on these models are #00 Phillips. The 17" Early and Late 2011 use T6 Torx for the fans and logic board and T5 Torx for two connector shields. Track your screws on a magnetic work mat or tape them to a drawing of your laptop, as several screws look alike but are different lengths
- On the Late 2008 MacBook, two screws of the display cable bracket go through the DC-in board, so remove the bracket first
- Pull the camera and display cables parallel to the board with a spudger. Both sockets are fragile
- On the 17", the logic board and DC-in board lift out together. Hold the board by its edges and unplug the DC-in cable with tweezers
- Both screw holes must line up. If one is about 2 mm out, you have the 2009-2012 board, not this one
