Product Details

Is your unibody MacBook Pro not charging, charging on and off, or is the light on the MagSafe plug not coming on? The MagSafe port sits on its own small DC-in board (also called the DC jack), so a new MagSafe DC-in board is usually the repair you need.

This board fits the 13-inch MacBook Pro A1278 and the 15-inch A1286 from Mid 2009 to Mid 2012. Got a Late 2008 model or a 17" A1297? They use the 2008-2009 and 17" MagSafe DC-in board.

Part Includes:

  • 1x MagSafe DC-in board with cable and connector
  • 12 Month Warranty

Please Note

Does NOT fit the Late 2008 aluminium MacBook A1278, the Late 2008 or Early 2009 15" A1286, or the 17" A1297. Check the year in About This Mac as well as the A-number.

Please Note

Takes the original MagSafe charger (the L-shaped or T-shaped plug), not MagSafe 2.

Please Note

The logic board has to come out to fit it. On the 15" the battery comes out too.

Installation Help

helpful tips

Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email

  • Always power down your device prior to working on it
  • The 10 bottom case screws are #00 Phillips of different lengths. Track your screws on a magnetic work mat or tape them to a drawing of your laptop, as several screws look alike but are different lengths
  • On the 15" the battery comes out, held by three tri-point screws, which take a Y0 tri-point driver. On the 13", just unplug it
  • Unplug the DC-in cable by pulling it sideways towards the heat sink with a spudger. Pulling up can break the socket off the logic board
  • The fans and logic board are held by T6 Torx screws. Lift the logic board out without flexing it and watch the DC-in cable, which can catch on the case
  • Both screw holes must line up. If one is about 2 mm out, you have the 2008 / 17" board, not this one
  • Used boards can be missing the grey plastic face around the port. Move it across from your old board
