Replacing the charging port on your iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, or did the small spring contact on the Lightning port go missing, bend or break during an earlier repair? This replacement ground spring (also called the Lightning connector grounding spring contact) puts it back.
This spring grounds the Lightning connector to the back of the home button bracket. It sits under the 2.9mm Phillips screw on the Lightning connector of the iPhone 7 (A1660, A1778, A1779 and A1780) and iPhone 7 Plus (A1661, A1784, A1785 and A1786). It is a separate part from the charging port itself. If your port is damaged or won't charge, you need our iPhone 7 Charging Port or iPhone 7 Plus Charging Port, and this spring is refitted during that repair.
Part Includes:
- iPhone 7 / 7 Plus Lightning connector ground spring
Please Note
Does NOT fit iPhone 8 or 8 Plus. They hold the port with a bracket, not this spring. Check in Settings, General, About for your model.
Please Note
This is the spring contact only, not the charging port. For a port that won't charge, see our iPhone 7 Charging Port or iPhone 7 Plus Charging Port.
Please Note
This repair requires the removal of the screen and logic board to reach the spring. Watch the video in Installation Help before you start.
Please Note
This item will usually be new but sometimes we only have as-new used stock.

Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. There are two 3.4mm P2 pentalobe screws at the bottom edge, then many Y000, Phillips and standoff screws of different lengths inside. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- Warm the bottom edge of the screen and lift it with a suction cup, clear of the home button. Slide an opening pick in no more than 3mm deep (take extra care on the right edge, where the display cables run) and don't lift the screen more than 15 degrees. Slide the screen down to free the clips along the top edge, then open it like a book from the left side
- Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal. The battery stays in the phone: remove the lower connector bracket (Y000 screws) and lift the battery connector out of its socket
- The spring sits under the logic board. The screen, Taptic Engine, loudspeaker, barometric vent, rear camera, Wi-Fi antenna and logic board all come out to reach it. Note which antenna cable goes to which socket, and remove the SIM tray before lifting out the logic board
- Remove the 2.9mm Phillips screw from the Lightning connector, then lift off the old spring contact with tweezers (steps 54 and 55 of the iPhone 7 guide, steps 55 and 56 of the iPhone 7 Plus guide). Fit the new spring the same way round and refit the 2.9mm screw in the same hole
- Before closing the phone, test that it charges, connects to a computer, has mobile signal and that the microphones work (record a voice memo)
- Opening your iPhone 7 or 7 Plus breaks its factory water-resistance seal. Clean off the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and fit new screen adhesive for the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus when you close it up
