Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email
- Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
- Always power down your device prior to working on it, and take out the SIM card tray first. The eject hole is on the bottom edge next to a microphone hole, so make sure you use the right one.
- Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. There are 11 screws on the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker (2.8mm) and 2 on the USB-C port (2.3mm). You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
- The back glass is glued on. Warm each edge with the iOpener in short bursts, lift it with the suction cup and slice the adhesive with opening picks. Do not overheat the phone, as heat damages the screen and the battery.
- Only push an opening pick about 3mm past the edge along the long left and right sides. Any deeper and you can cut the wireless charging coil or the interconnect cable.
- The NFC and wireless charging coil and the loudspeaker have to come out to reach the charging port. Unclip the coil connector and remove the 11 screws, then lift the loudspeaker at the notch on its left edge. The coil is taped to the loudspeaker, so lift them out together, and press round the edges until they clip in when refitting.
- Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal. Lift its connector at the marked point only, as prying elsewhere can damage small components.
- The charging port cable has two connectors, marked MAIN (main board) and SUB (sub board). Unclip both with a spudger, and press them back down until they click when refitting.
- The cable is lightly glued to the sub board just below the SUB marking. Warm it for a couple of minutes and peel it up gently without creasing it. Remove the two port screws, then push the port out of its recess through the screw holes with a spudger, working from one hole to the other.
- Power on and test charging before you seal the back.
- Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Clean off the old adhesive with alcohol and fit new adhesive when you close it up, or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
