• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
• The back cover is glued glass. Warm each edge with the iOpener in short bursts, lift it with the suction cup and slice the adhesive with opening picks. Do not overheat the phone, as heat damages the screen and the battery.
• Only push an opening pick 4 to 5mm past the edge. Any deeper and you can cut the antenna cable, the power button cable or the rear cameras.
• The NFC and wireless charging plate and the bottom loudspeaker have to come out to reach the charging port board. Do not tear the plate's cable, and press its connectors back down until they click.
• Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal
• The board connects to the main board with a long interconnect flex cable. Unclip both ends with a spudger, and when refitting reconnect the flex and the aerial (coaxial antenna) cable you unplugged, pressing each connector down until it clicks, or the phone may lose charging or signal.
• The board is held by 2 small Phillips screws and sits slightly recessed in the frame. Lift it out gently, and when refitting line the USB-C port up with its opening before pressing the board flat.
• Power on and test charging and the microphone before you seal the back.
• Opening the phone breaks the factory seal. Clean off the old adhesive with alcohol and fit new adhesive when you close it up, or the phone will lose its water resistance rating.
