• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it, and take out the SIM card tray first
• Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
• The plastic back cover is held by clips. Lift a corner with the suction cup and slide an opening pick or card around the edge to release them, going gently on the power and volume button side. Only push the pick 4 to 5mm past the edge.
• Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal
• The charging port board sits under a plastic cover at the bottom of the phone. Remove its screws, lift the cover off, then lift out the loudspeaker to reach the board.
• The board connects to the main board with a long flex cable. Disconnect it at both ends with a spudger, and press both connectors back down until they click when refitting.
• The board is held to the frame with metallised tape. Warm it gently with the iOpener in short bursts and lift it from the edge, without pushing a tool far underneath.
• Reconnect the aerial (coaxial antenna) cable and make sure the board's grounding contact sits against the frame when refitting, or the phone may lose signal after the repair.
• Test charging, the headphone jack and the microphone before you close the phone.
