• Drain the battery below 25% before you start on this repair
• Always power down your device prior to working on it
• Track your screws, they are many different lengths: two 7.2mm P2 pentalobe screws beside the USB-C port, six Y000 screws on the logic board cover (one 2.1mm and five 1.5mm), then many small Phillips and standoff screws inside. Draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
• Remove the two pentalobe screws, warm the bottom edge and lift the screen from the front with a suction cup. Slide opening picks in under the plastic bezel, no more than 3mm deep at the bottom and top, 5mm on the right and 2mm on the left edge, where the screen cables run. The screen swings open to the left like a book
• Make sure you always unplug the battery before attempting any component removal. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max the battery connector is under the logic board cover: pry it up with a plastic pick, then disconnect the screen and ambient light sensor cables. Reconnect the battery last and press it down until it clicks and sits flat
• Several parts sit over the charging port at the bottom of the phone. Watch the video above before you start so you know which parts come out and in what order
• The connector to the logic board can be tricky to align correctly so it fits into place. We recommend taking a pencil and tracing the original charging port so you know exactly where it gets positioned and lining the new charger port up within the pencil lines
• Before closing the phone, test that it charges, connects to a computer and that the microphone works (record a voice memo)
• Opening your iPhone 15 Pro Max breaks its factory water-resistance seal. Clean off the old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and fit new screen adhesive when you reassemble it
