iFixit iPhone 5s Home Button Replacement Guide

chipset

Here are some helpful tips to assist you in completing a safe repair on your device. If you are unsure of something or have any quesions, please feel free to contact us either by phone (0508 IGADGET) or by email

  • Always track your screws to avoid putting back in the wrong place and damaging your device. You can draw a picture of your phone and tape the screws to the right places or use a screw mat
  • Always power down your device prior to working on it
  • if you are opening an iPad that you are not replacing a screen on, we recommend using a heat mat to assist with safe screen removal
  • Use a thin metal tool (such as the iFlex) to start the gap on the iPad, but then switch to a plastic tool (such as the iPlastix) to avoid slicing internal ribbons or damaging the metal frame or plastic bezel
  • There is a small gap at the top right of the iPad (about 5cm from the top). That is the best place to start screen removal.
  • Be very careful of the antenna and home button ribbon on the right and left hand side of the home button. Do these parts last as you can leverage the screen to assist.

Quite different to original

Very hard to install but finally was able to connect the cable using tape to hold it.
